The Rashleigh Collection and the Royal Institution of Cornwall

As part of the preparation for the forthcoming exhibition ‘Terrain’ a visit has been made to this renowned archive housed in the Royal Cornwall Museum, Truro. In collaboration with Michael Harris, Curator of Fine Art and Exhibitions, and Sara Chapman, Curator of Natural History and a specialist in mineralogy and geology, specimen samples from the collection were selected with the intention they should be included as part of the show scheduled to open on the 27th September 2014.

Recent paintings on the decade-long investigation into mineralogy and geology as a visual source opened at the Artmill Gallery and Framing Centre, Plymouth on Friday 6th June. With more than seventy works on view the richness and vibrancy of colour is both immediate and striking.


The South West Academy Annual Exhibition 2014 and book launch

The Academicians' annual exhibition opened on the 27th May in the Royal Clarence Hotel, Exeter, with an address given by Alan Fynn, Chair of Trustees, in which he paid tribute to the work of the Trustees and Academicians over the past fourteen years. The occasion featured the launch of the Academy's own new publication *'South West Academy: Art, People, Place'*.


Linder Sterling opens the Penwith Society's 2014 Spring Exhibition

Friday evening saw the Society's opening of the Spring Exhibition by Tate St Ives Artist-In-Residence Linder Sterling. More than five-hundred were in attendance to hear her warm references to Barbera Hepworth, a founder-member of the PSA, and how her research is informing this central part of her residency.

Since the invitation to show as an associate in the Christmas Exhibition 2013, I have been offered full member status by the Society's governing  committee. I am delighted to be given the opportunity to exhibit again with this historically significant group after what has been a gap of nearly five decades.
