Once again Artmill has mounted a mixed exhibition of paintings, prints, ceramics and sculpture by members of the Plymouth Society of Artists in this well appointed and deceptively spacious gallery. The Society has an established position in the gallery’s annual programme, this show being the ninth.

In widening the group of partners it has extended and enhanced the public awareness of the work of the Academy and its Academicians, to paraphrase the words of the Chair of Trustees.

Opening the new season in the Penwith Gallery, St Ives is a joint exhibition of Members and Associates of the Society. The combined exhibits fill both the Main and the New Galleries with a vibrant mix of paintings, prints, sculpture and ceramics.


Chief Executive of Devon County Council opens the South West Academy’s latest exhibition

The Academy has broken new ground with this exhibition: venturing further east than has been the norm over recent years it has enhanced its relationship with the region in presenting a  show in Honiton’s Thelma Hulbert Gallery. Curator and Manager, Angela Blackwell, began by reminding the large numbers at Saturday’s private view of two events to be staged over the period of the exhibition. The first, a tour by Prof. Alan Cotton, FRSA and founder member of SWAc, the second, a workshop from fellow academician Robert Mountjoy.


Painting acquired by the Royal Institution of Cornwall

Following the exhibition *Terrain* mounted in the Royal Cornwall Museum’s Philbright Gallery over the period September 2014 - February 2015, the Royal Institution of Cornwall has acquired the painting High Down Wavellite - Erythrite and Oxide Red for the museum’s permanent collection.
